Work independently and effectively as a team. Work as an integral member of multi-disciplinary healthcare team in an Emergency Department. Responsible for patient interviews in emergency department: to accurately collect medication histories and to review and update electronic medical records. The pharmacy technician in emergency department must contact patient’s pharmacy, physician, family members, and/or caregivers to verify medication lists. The pharmacy technician functions in accordance with standard written procedures, guidelines and federal regulations.
Education: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.
Experience: Three years of pharmacy experience. Both inpatient and retail pharmacy experiences desired
Knowledge and Skills: Proficient in reading and writingstrong communication skillsCompetent in basic computer programs (Microsoft window and excel) Bilingual preferred.
License/Certifications: Pharmacy Technician License in the state of California Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) required
Equipment: Computer, equipment associated with the compounding of pharmaceuticals.
